Droving Down Under
It was so much fun the first time, they’re going to do it again. After a three-year hiatus, the Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive returns in 2010. Along with driving cattle deep into the majestic Outback and exploring the historic trails through Flinders Ranges from atop a horse, you will have the rare opportunity to work alongside the ranchers who call this country home and learn about their unique version of the cowboy culture. Out of the saddle, you’ll stay in first-class tenting accommodations at Anna Creek Station, the largest cattle station in the world; enjoy catered Australian cuisine; and share stories of the day’s adventures as you sip a cocktail from the full bar and relax around a roaring campfire.
The Australian Outback cattle drive is truly the experience of a lifetime, and you do not have to be an expert in the saddle to partake. Not only are the tours led by some of Australia’s most famous and experienced drovers, the team matches each rider with his or her horse based on the rider’s comfort level and experience. So whether you’re a genuine or wannabe cowpoke, you can saddle up and ride the Outback. Trips can be booked through the Australia New Zealand Travel Source by e-mailing cattledrive2010@yahoo.com or calling 866.767.2243.
