Ann's Turquoise built on a dream
Ann Ortiz put her dream with a small investment to build a successful fashion accessories shop.
The dream of owning a business and working with something you love may be tough torealize on a teacher's salary, but don't tell that to Ann Ortiz.
She took her dream and a $1,500 investment and opened Ann's Turquoise in Topeka, Kansas. Today her family-owned company (her daughter and son help run the business) is known throughout the country for the quality and distinctiveness of its silver and turquoise jewelry.
Ann's Turquoise also offers Double D Ranchwear, Old Gringo boots, Kippy's belts and handbags, and designer jewelry from various artists. But Ortiz still takes special pride in her exceptional jewelry designs, which nicely complement her selection of apparel and boots.
Among the more popular jewelry pieces are the ones featuring vibrant turquoise, which is famed for its purity and rich color — an appropriate choice for a business built on a dream.
