Wrangling up Patriotism
Sure, baseball may be America’s sport. But rodeo is the sport of the American West, born from the roots of the nation’s agriculture industry — an industry that tamed the West like a cowboy on a bucking bronc. So it makes perfect sense that Wrangler, one of the most iconic denim-makers in the country, has developed a national campaign that works with local PRCA rodeos to raise funds and provide support for America’s military veterans and their families. This past December at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Wrangler Western Wear launched the Wrangler National Patriot program, donating $50,000 on behalf of legendary World Champion All-Around Cowboy Jim Shoulders.
Much like Wrangler’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign (which has raised more than $7.5 million dollars for breast cancer), the Wrangler National Patriot program was created to support a worthy cause on both a local and national level. The company, while encouraging rodeo organizations to likewise develop fundraisers in support of locally based veteran charities, has also released a line of men’s and women’s dress shirts and T-shirts that brandish the Wrangler National Patriot logo. Shirts can be purchased at rodeos and Western re-tailers that carry Wrangler Western Wear. Portions of all the proceeds will go to charities that assist veterans and their families.
