Photographer Margit Hägele's Fine Art of the West

Born in Germany, photographer Margit Hägele has captured people, cities, cultures, and landscapes from places around the world, including Italy, France, England, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, North Africa, Madagascar, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the western United States, which she now calls home.

Hägele recalls the first time she entered the United States, crossing the Canadian border in her van.

"I drove Highway 1 down to San Diego, then went east to New Orleans, up to Chicago, and back through Route 66 to Los Angeles. After three months on the road photographing the West, I realized traveling the United States would never be enough."

Today Hägele spends most of her time based in California but frequently visits Texas, New Mexico, and other Western states photographing all things West.

In her latest online portfolio, aptly titled Fine Art of the West, you’ll find color and black-and-white pictures of her travels, including iconic Route 66 memorabilia, breathtaking landscapes of canyons and rock formations, horses running free, cowboys in their element, and Native Americans participating in powwows.

Images in the collection may be purchased as prints in matte, luster, or glossy finishes in sizes from 5x7 inches up to 40x60 inches. Custom sizes are also available.
