Duds for Dads

Small collection, big statement

In 1989, upon the urging of their father, Doug, three sisters founded Double D Ranch in Yoakum, Texas (the double Ds stand for “Doug” and “daughters”). Though Doug McMullen passed away in 2010, his legacy lives on in the first-ever Double D menswear collection, debuted this fall by his girls as a special tribute to their dad.

“Everyone has always asked, ‘Why don’t you do men’s?’ ” says Audrey Franz. “So we decided to do a really small men’s collection, and we thought to honor Dad, we’d name the collection Doug.”

Franz also says the collection is reflective of who her father was. “It’s not your traditional men’s Western shirts or clothing. It really has more of a bad boy with a good heart kind of spirit, so there’s a little cowboy rocker to it, a little biker influence — and that was definitely who our dad was. It’s definitely
who we are, too. Our core customer is a daring customer, not somebody who wants to just blend in with the crowd.” And cowboys certainly won’t while wearing the new Doug duds. The small collection makes a big statement with vintage-inspired tees, shirts, and outerwear that boast Double D’s signature edgy detailing and embroidery.
