Celebration State

We've got plenty of ways to celebrate Arizona's 100th.

There are plenty of celebratory events associated with Arizona’s centennial happening across the state, but the southeast corner from Tucson to Cochise County is really where the state’s Old West history began. The story of the county is making its way around the state in the Cochise County History on the Move. Featuring life-size cutout photos of some of Arizona’s most significant history makers, the exhibit includes Chiricahua Apache chief and Cochise’s son Naiche (there are no known photographs of Cochise), Indian agent Tom Jeffords (who worked with Cochise to improve Apache and immigrant relations), the first African-American U.S. military Col. Charles Young, and Cochise County sheriff and rancher John Slaughter. Visit www.cochise100.org for more details and the complete list of history makers.

To celebrate the centennial in fun and meaningful ways, you can choose from a plethora of both signature events planned by the Arizona Centennial 2012 Foundation and other official events throughout the Copper State. For more information, visit www.az100years.org.
