11/30/11Baggage & BlingWell, Miranda Lambert talks about "Baggage Claim" in her new song, and I was reminded of that at the Las Vegas airport. If you're flying into Vegas and see excess luggage, hatcans, and more glitz and bling than you expected, you're probably at the baggage claim with one of the beautiful contestants in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant. Contestant check in is December 3rd at the MGM Grand; after one grueling week in which reigning state rodeo queens compete in appearance, horsemanship, and personality, one lucky lady will be crowned at the Hollywood Theatre on December 10th to serve as pro rodeo's ambassador for the next year. Horsemanship is Monday, December 5th, at the Excalibur Arena. For the complete schedule,... Posted at 03:13 PM | Permalink |

11/30/11Viva Las VegasGetting unpacked for NFR in Vegas. First duty will be emceeing the Women's Pro Rodeo Association Top 15 Luncheon Thursday at South Point Hotel. It will be fun seeing the ladies before their first run that night, and I'll have a chance to interview them. There are four first-time qualifiers who I'm sure would rather be anywhere but a luncheon on the same day they run down the alley at Thomas & Mack arena for the first time! I'll let you know what insights they give me on their horses, hobbies, superstitions, and controlling nerves.
