You Said It: Facebook Fans Pick Their Poison
As you’ve probably figured out, we like to poke and prod our Facebook fans with questions about all kinds of things. This week, our attentions turned to adult beverages. Specifically, we asked our FB faithful for their ideas regarding cowboy and cowgirl cocktails.
A few told us what they like to mix in with the hard stuff, and others scoffed at the idea of mixing it with anything at all.
Torrey kept it simple and citrus-y: “I prefer bourbon and lemonade.” Now, that sounds easy enough to make and good.
Michelle went for a timeless classic: “Scotch and soda … the older the scotch, and the younger the cowboy, the better.” Same goes for Jack (minus the reference to hot cowboys): “I’m pretty much plain Jack and water or scotch and water. Depends on my mood. My daddy always said [to] stay hydrated.” Daddy knows best!
Susan suggested a sweet concoction:
“Here we drink APPLE PIE = hard cider, mixed with spices and 190 proof Everclear. Put in mason jars with a cinnamon stick and hide in a cool place until the stick is dissolved. Five to eight years is the good stuff. Drink it right out of the jar around the campfire. No drinking and riding.”
That sounds delicious, and worthy of a Cowboys & Indians care package. Susan’s this week’s winner, for sure. Even if she did preface her recipe with a slight dig at our question: “Cocktails? And real cowboys? Really?”
We get it, we get it, especially after reading Scott’s comment: “There is no cowboy mixed drink. It’s whiskey straight up.”
Thanks to Scott’s dose of reality, we decided to take a different angle and post a simple poll (screenshot below). Looks like wine is winning right now, but you can change that by visiting our Facebook, “liking” us and voting. Happy swills.
