Bryan, Church to Get Vegas Ready for ACM
Looking for an excuse to plan a Vegas trip? The last weekend in March presents you with as good a reason as any, especially if you're a country music fan.
Nashville's biggest and best will take over the party city for a couple of days leading up to the April 1 broadcast of the Academy of Country Music Awards on CBS. Show and special event info for the weekend is still rolling out, and the latest piece involves current CMT/GAC video heartthrobs Luke Bryan (above) and Eric Church. They'll each headline a weekend show at the Fremont Street Experience, the walkable "old-fashioned" area far north of the Vegas strip.
Now, if you've been to the Fremont Street Experience, you know what a big deal it is to have actual headlining musical performers taking the street stages, as opposed to the regular celebrity impersonators and novelty acts (fun as they might be).
Church's latest hit is "Drink In My Hand," a Neal-McCoy-aping tune that celebrates the boozier life. We do enjoy the way Church pronounces the word "down" in the chorus, stretching it to two syllables (two syllables is always better than one; just ask Reba).
Bryan's been the bigger standout of late, though, with the not-so-subtle "Country Girl (Shake It For Me)" dominating radio last month, and his new No. 1 "I Don't Want This Night to End" showing a softer side. See the video for the second song below. His Very Serious Acting in the vid could give us a glimpse of a future for Luke in one of those rare CMT original movies. Either that, or he could star in Pure Country 3: George Strait Doesn't Even Make A Cameo.
