Wednesday Western: 'Take a Hard Ride'

Free for you to view on Hulu.com: Take a Hard Ride, a gritty 1975 action-adventure from director Antonio Margheriti (a prolific Italian filmmaker often billed as Anthony M. Dawson) starring Lee Van Cleef, Jim Brown, Fred Williamson, Barry Sullivan, Dana Andrews, and veteran western supporting player Harry Carey Jr.
The plot focuses on Pike (Brown), a stoic cowboy who’s given the task of transporting a sizeable sum of money across the border into Mexico after his boss meets an untimely end.
While on the long journey, he’s joined by a shifty gambler (Williamson), an imperiled prostitute (Catherine Spaak), and a mute Indian who’s a master of martial arts (Jim Kelly). Unfortunately, he’s also pursued by a ruthless bounty hunter (Van Cleef) and a corrupt sheriff (Sullivan).
