Wednesday Western: 'Gunsmoke: The Last Apache'

Free for you to view on YouTube: Gunsmoke: The Last Apache, one of five TV-movies in which James Arness reprised his iconic role as Marshal Matt Dillon, the heroic lawman he portrayed so memorably in the classic 1955-75 Western series. In this 1990 drama -- a kinda-sorta sequel to a 1973 two-part episode of the original Gunsmoke -- Dillon is reunited with "Mike" Yardner (Michael Lerner, a.k.a. Olivia Walton of The Waltons), a lady with whom he briefly dallied years earlier. The good news: Dillon learns he fathered a daughter during the long-ago close encounter. The bad news: Beth (Amy Stock-Poynton), the daughter, has been kidnapped by a renegade Apache and requires rescuing.
