'Justified' Episode 6 Recap: 'When The Guns Come Out'
The bad guys are thicker than ticks on a coonhound in this week's installment of Justified, so cover your eyes if you can't stand watching them pop. Yes, there's nothing like a good old fashioned gang war to take the shine off the criminal life — a fact Ellstin Limehouse (Mykelti Williamson) tries very hard to explain to his employees.
We all knew things were bound to escalate as Detroit's Mr. Quarles (Neal McDonough) continues his attempt to muscle in on Boyd Crowder's (Walton Goggins) turf, but it can be hard to see your target when you're way deep in the hollers, so you'd better pay attention where you're shooting.
In Episode 6 of season three, "When The Guns Come Out," the time for playing games is over, and you'd better be ready to pull the trigger if you slap leather.
THINGS ARE TOUGH ALL OVER: Just in case you were wondering, BOLO means "Be On the Look Out." Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) proves he's not afraid to lose his hat, although he's quite afraid of losing Winona (Natalie Zea), who drops quite a bomb on him — she's a Kenny Chesney fan? Say it ain't so!
YOU CAN TAKE IT TO THE BANK: Trust is a hard thing to come by in this show, so we're really glad to see Ellstin added to the cast of characters. Everyone is so volatile in this show that it's nice to have a reliable fellow we count on to deliver the brisket — but something tells us he keeps his cleavers sharp, too.
FIRE IN THE HOLE: Producer Don Kurt helped adapt the show's first episode, "Fire In the Hole," from Elmore Leonard's short story, and he returns to the front lines in the director's chair this time. Kurt also made an appearance as an actor on the show — he played legal counsel to Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter) in the the Justified episode "The Lord of War and Thunder" back in Season 1. Break a leg, Don!
NOT CAUGHT UP ON 'JUSTIFIED'? So, you can't start watching Season 3, because you haven't seen the first two seasons yet? Look, we really want you to join in our recap fun, so we've got an opportunity for you.
We'll be giving away a Justified readiness kit to a lucky reader every Wednesday through February. By "readiness kit," we mean Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD. (Thanks to the folks over at Sony Pictures for hooking us up!)
Here's how to throw your name in the hat: make your way over to our Twitter page, follow us (if you haven't already), and tweet at us the reason why you should win the DVDs. We'll draw a name from the commenters on Friday. Good luck!
