Take the Polar Plunge in Oregon
You've seen it before on the news: Large groups of people, with no regard for their personal comfort, go running toward a near-freezing body of water until they're submerged and screaming.
"Yeah, those people are nuts," you say. But wait! Maybe there's something to the experience. Maybe it reminds you just how exciting life on the edge can be. No?
Well, consider this: People in Oregon don't just jump in cold water because it's something to tell their friends about. Starting tomorrow in Medford and continuing in Eugene, Portland, Corvallis and Bend, Polar Plunge Oregon draws participants to chilly bodies of water in hopes of raising money for the Special Olympics.
Even if you don't want to take the plunge yourself, you can donate to those who will. And you can always make the trek to one of the events to watch the madness close-up.
Check out the dates, info and plunging rules here.
