Ed Harris On The Trail To 'Sweetwater'

Mike Fleming of Deadline.com reports that Ed Harris is getting back in the saddle for Sweetwater, a western slated to begin production this summer in New Mexico. Harris will join January Jones of TV's Mad Men in a dramatic tale Fleming describes thusly: "Set against the backdrop of 1886 New Mexico Territory, a young widow (Jones) risks all to avenge her husband’s murder at the hands of a brutal sheep rancher. Harris plays the town sheriff who helps Jones avenge her husband’s death."

Of course, this won't be Harris' first rodeo. The respected character actor starred in and directed Appaloosa, a well-regarded 2008 western based on the novel by Robert B. Parker, and appeared opposite his wife, Amy Madigan, in a 1996 adaptation of Zane Grey's Riders of the Purple Sage.
