Here's everything you need to get in the holiday spirit.
Sure, seeing a dozen roses being delivered to my desk on February 14 makes my heart flutter. But, having been with my husband 10 years, married five, I sometimes find Valentine’s Day to be more stressful than special. I don't always want to come home from the office on a Wednesday and rush to “freshen up” — a.k.a get ready for a second time — in order to make a dinner reservation at an overcrowded restaurant. Some years, all I want is a quiet night at home with a home-cooked meal, a little champagne, a romantic movie, and our Labrador mix Jack (whom we jokingly call my true life partner). But no matter what Brian and I do on Valentine’s Day, I’ve learned to embrace it, to take the night off from my regular routine and celebrate love — hearts, doilies, mushy cards, and all. Whether you plan to hit the town with your sweetheart this year or just snuggle up on the couch, hopefully this roundup of my V-day favorites will put you in the right mood for the occasion.
