The 24-hour tribute will feature The Quiet Man, 11 other films.
Turner Classic Movies has revised its schedule to showcase a 24-hour tribute to Maureen O’Hara starting Friday, Nov. 20. The 12-movie marathon will begin at 6 am ET Friday with Jamaica Inn, the 1939 Alfred Hitchcock drama in which O’Hara played her first major film role, and conclude at 4 am ET Saturday with The Spanish Main, the 1945 swashbuckler in which she appeared opposite Paul Henreid and Walter Slezak.
The TCM tribute lineup also includes four films in which O’Hara — who passed away Oct. 24 at age 95 — co-starred with her longtime friend John Wayne: McLintock! (11:30 am), Big Jake (3:45 pm), The Wings of Eagles (5:45 pm) and The Quiet Man (10:15 pm).
Other highlights of the TCM tribute: The Deadly Companions (7:45 am), the 1961 western that marked Sam Peckinaph’s debut as a feature filmmaker; Spencer’s Mountain (9:30 am), the 1963 drama that later inspired The Waltons, the enduringly popular TV series; and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (8 pm), the 1939 film version of Victor Hugo’s classic novel starring Charles Laughton as Quasimodo and O’Hara as the fiery Esmerelda.
Rounding out the list: The Battle of the Villa Fiorita (1:45 pm), At Sword’s Point (12:30 am Nov. 21) and Sinbad the Sailor (2 am Nov. 21).
